Seventh Oasis Class Ship Construction Begins

Soon-to-be-named ship will join Royal Caribbean’s lineup in 2028

Royal Caribbean celebrated a major construction milestone for the seventh Oasis Class vacation* with a keel-laying ceremony at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The event officially marks the start of assembly of the vacation brand’s new ship and kicks off the next two years of construction ahead of its anticipated 2028 debut.

During the ceremony, teams from Royal Caribbean and Chantiers de l’Atlantique placed a layer of freshly minted coins beneath the first steel block in the dry dock, known as the keel. The long-standing maritime tradition celebrates the beginning of the ship’s journey by wishing good fortune to the ship, its crew and future vacationers.

Royal Caribbean currently has six Oasis Class ships sailing:

• Oasis of the Seas (2009)
• Allure of the Seas (2010)
• Harmony of the Seas (2016)
• Symphony of the Seas (2018)
• Wonder of the Seas (2022)
• Utopia of the Seas (2024)

The soon-to-be-named ship will join the revolutionary Oasis Class lineup in 2028 and deliver bold new adventures, standout dining, immersive entertainment and experiences designed for every type of vacationer.

The Oasis Class ships have been favorites in Galveston.  Symphony of the Seas is currently sailing 6, 7 & 8 night sailings from Galveston.  Harmony of the Seas and Allure of the Seas were previously sailing from Galveston but have moved to Florida.
