The ship that revolutionized family vacations is set to deliver the biggest adventures yet from Texas. The show-stopping Icon of the Seas will sail from Galveston for the first time starting August 2027
Unveiled in 2024, Icon of the Seas was the world’s largest cruise ship, featuring several record-breaking and unique attractions like the largest waterpark at sea, the first suspended infinity pool, and a unique “neighborhood” design with distinct areas for different experiences. It also offers a massive variety of dining options and activities, including specialized areas like the family-focused Surfside and adult-only Chill Island. It now shares the “worlds largest” title with Star of the Seas that was unveiled in August 2025. Legend of the Seas and a fourth unnamed ship are in the works.

The Port of Costa Maya is located about 350 miles south of Cancun, not far from Mexico’s border with Belize. The port town of Mahahual was once a sleepy fishing village but has become a busy tourist center. The cruise dock was recently purchased by Royal Caribbean and will become part of their Perfect Day Mexico in Fall 2027. Icon of the Seas will be docking there!
