SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY THROUGH TOMORROW WITH HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE

DRIER AND WARMER CONDITIONS ON TAP FOR THIS COMING WEEKEND

TROPICAL STORM FAY OVER SOUTH FLORIDA--ULTIMATE PATH STILL A MYSTERY (Details in tropical section below)

Mostly cloudy today with an 80% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall is possible. Winds will be from the south at 10-15 mph. Expect high temperatures in the mid-80's. Tonight, we should see mostly cloudy skies and mild conditions with a 60% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Heavy rain is possible. Overnight lows will range from the upper-70's on the Island to the mid-70's inland. On Wednesday, we will have mostly cloudy skies with a 70% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Heavy rain will be possible. Highs will be in the mid-80's. Expect southerly winds at 10-15 mph.

DISCUSSION

Wet weather is likely for the couple of days. An abundance of Gulf moisture and a weak frontal boundary over Texas will interact with a deep upper-level low pressure area dropping southward from the Plains into Texas. This will create an unstable atmosphere and keep a good chance of thunderstorms in our picture through Wednesday. More sunshine and heat will reappear on Thursday and Friday as the upper-low moves out of the picture and more typical August weather returns.
