A short taxi ride from the pier takes you to the 18-hole championship golf course at the Cozumel Country Club, nestled between the island's jungle and tropical rainforest, and only minutes from downtown.
Join the small group of fellow Carnival cruisers with a bucket of practice balls before you tackle the challenges of Cozumel's only golf course. Choose from four sets of tees the one that best matches your skill level. Short of time or just a beginner? Select the special “FASTEE COURSE,” designed for beginners and golfers who prefer a speedier round—the course cuts the yardage in half and allows for a more rapid pace of play.
The excitement kicks off early: At the par-5 third hole (499 yards from the back tees), you'll need to finesse a tricky second shot or pick your poison: sand trap or the drink.
Throughout your round, you'll be playing your way through lush jungle scenery, home to Cozumel's blue crabs, iguanas, birds, raccoons and wild boar. Holes have been carved out of wetlands and mangroves and marshes. Trees line nearly every hole, and other holes are only visible from three tee boxes.
As play continues, listen for birdcalls and the music of the jungle as you tee off each hole. Refresh with a cool drink and a bite to eat at an on-course snack cart before facing the unique challenges of the next hole.
Play finishes with a final challenge. The 18th hole is one of the shortest par-4s on the course, but it may be the toughest hole of golf in Cozumel. You'll need to clear a long growth of mangrove with your tee shot, followed by a second shot over even denser mangrove.
After you've finished your round of golf, sit back and relax in the palapa-style clubhouse with a well-earned snack and drink. Souvenir hats and shirts are available for sale at the pro shop. Your day of golf in Cozumel ends with a short ride in the taxi back to the pier.
